Sometimes you know when you, or others, need help. I think it is a key skill to being a successful NED. I was in that position six months ago. I completed the Financial Times NED Diploma and I knew my CV was not fit for networking. I contacted Mike. Two variations of my CV, each of four pages plus appendices very quickly became one CV document, two and half pages in length and focused on generating interest in me as a non-executive with my target audiences. It was a transformation. In addition to helping me present myself more effectively Mike also has considerable knowledge across the NED market. He flagged up to me some prospective regulatory changes within one of my target markets which may result in a considerable number of independent non-executives being required. I am now monitoring this very closely!

When I brought my 28 year, City corporate finance career to a close I planned to create a second career as a portfolio NED, but recognised that my CV needed a lot of work. Having been introduced to Mike Clancy by a mutual friend, I engaged with him to re-position my CV for a NED career. Mike was most impressive and re-worked my CV fundamentally, focussing on my key skills and experience. Fast-forward two years and my portfolio is well established with 6 roles spanning quoted, PE-backed and family companies as well as social enterprise, a charity and the Church of England. I would recommend Mike’s services to anyone embarking on the NED phase of life.
